Brunchin’ In Brentwood: Tavern

The great thing about living in a huge city like Los Angeles is there’s always somewhere or something new to try. This was the case for me when I brunched at Tavern in Brentwood this past weekend with some girlfriends.

It is a MUST when it comes to dining in Los Angeles.

I walked into the beautiful neighborhood eatery and immediately felt like I’d been transported to a different city entirely. It was Savannah, Georgia meets the Hamptons.

Tavern Inside

Designed by Jeffrey Alan Marks, Tavern brings together a trio of concepts under one roof – a full service dining room, a marketplace and a bar with craft cocktails and artisanal wines. Tavern is a beautiful yet casual neighborhood-meeting place, open all day for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as providing pastries, coffees and prepared food to go for the hungry locals.

As I sat in the plush loveseat anticipating an extraordinary meal, I couldn’t help but notice all the beautiful people dining around me. There was the cutest baby shower happening and tables were filled with smiling friends and family. I felt unbelievably comfortable and happy. Of course, the fried chicken biscuit with buttermilk gravy & sunny-side up eggs I ordered didn’t hurt either! I am a Southern gal after-all.

I also decided to be a true lady who lunches and get the raspberry mint-collins cocktail as well. Um…YUM!

The good thing about dining with friends is you get to steal a bite off of their plates! So, I can also say the tavern “benedict” with prosciutto, gruyere and hollandaise as well as the avocado toast both hit the spot. One small tip…don’t order THREE sides of fried potatoes for three people. Way too many potatoes – although they were incredible. 😉

Benedict

I just knew I had to write a rave review about this gorgeous restaurant, and come to find out, this isn’t the first restaurant from award-winning chef Suzanne Goin and her business partner Caroline Syne that I’ve raved to my friends and family about…

The partners’ second restaurant endeavor was a.o.c…which is an extraordinary tapas restaurant on West Third Street in LA. Let me tell y’all…Suzanne and Caroline really know how to create the perfect ambiance.

So take a page out of my book and please your palette at both Tavern and a.o.c. You won’t be disappointed.
